Well, Google has actually come with a car which can drive on its own. Can you believe it? Well, even I was astounded for some time. True, Google has made use of a specially designed Toyota Prius for this wonderful invention. The sensor on the top of the car uses artificially intelligent software that senses what is around the car and responds to a given situation the same way a human does. Brilliant isn’t it?

Ultra-Mobile PC

WristPC is a pioneering concept that combines all computer functions. The WristPC concept boasts a completely functional 3.5 inch touchscreen display plus a keypad onto the side of the wristband. One can position the display panels at different angels to make the screen face the user when the device is used for SMSing or GPS. The wireless earpiece can be easily detached from the wristband and can be used for making conference calls, watching videos on the move and listening to music. 

  

3D-TVs without glasses

Just imagine how it feels it to watch a 3D movie on your home TV without those annoying, heavy and expensive glasses. Worth the entertainment, right. Well, thanks to those few people who already have given a thought on this earlier and are all set to give out this technology into the market. This is sure to change the way digital media is displayed forever. Thanks to the team from Toshiba who worked behind this amazing project. Though the demand is estimated to be low initially during its launch, Toshiba is confident of this TV becoming a new standard for TVs in the near future.

Space Hotel

For a cool $1-million USD, you'll get yourself a 5-day stay at a Russian space hotel (217-miles up). This capsule would house seven guests in four cabins and have huge windows for views of the Earth turning below.This space hotel is due to open by 2016 and will be far more comfortable than International Space Station used by astronauts and cosmonauts.

1339 Years Old City

Shicheng city, nearly 1,339 years of age, situated in east China’s Zhejiang  Province has been submerged under Qiandao Lake since 1959 and the construction of the Xin’an River Hydropower Station.

Shicheng City was named after the Wu Shi Mountain (literally, Five Lion Mountain) in the northern part of Sui’an County, Zhejiang. It was once the center of politics, economics and culture of Sui’an County in that area.

Umbuku Lizard

This creature is the only one which was not designed for a practical reason, but merely to prove that it could be done. Genetic Engineers in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) managed to unlock a dormant “flying” strand in the DNA of the Umbuku lizard, a very small and rare lizard native to Africa. It is believed that the lizard is a descendent of the Pterodactyl, which lost its ability to fly some millions of years ago. To date only 6 of these flying Umbuku have been produced and they are kept seperate from the natural Umbuku due the risk of cross breeding.

Strange Phenomenon

On December 9, 2009, a strange phenomenon was witnessed over Russia, and photographed in northern Norway and Sweden. The event began when a blue light soared up from behind a mountain in the north end of Russia. The light stopped in mid-air, and then began to move in circles. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky. Once expanded, a green-blue beam of light shot out from the center of the object, lasting for ten to twelve minutes before disappearing completely. Thousands of onlookers described the event.

Never Give Up!!

One day a young lady was driving along with her father.
They came upon a storm, and the young lady asked her father,
What should I do?”
He said “keep driving”. Cars began to pull over to the side,
the storm was Getting worse.

“What should I do.” The young lady asked?
“Keep driving,” her father replied.
On up a few feet, she noticed that eighteen wheelers were also pulling over.
She told her dad, “I must pull over, I can barely see ahead.
It is Terrible, and everyone is pulling over!”

Her father told her, “Don’t give up, just keep driving!”
Now the storm was terrible, but she never stopped driving, and
soon she Could see a little more clearly.
After a couple of miles she was again on Dry land,
and the sun came out.

Her father said, “Now you can pull over and get out.”
She said “But why now?”
He said “When you get out, look back at all the people that gave up
and are Still in the storm, because you never gave up
your storm is now over.

Real-Life Jurassic Park Experience

We know how dinosaurs looked like, and some of us have seen skeletons of them at museums, but how cool would it be if we could see life sized models of them? That actually exists, believe it or not. In “Valle de la Prehistoria” that is located near the city of Santiago de Cuba there are life-sized dinosaur models. When you enter the place or the park you can see hundreds of dinosaurs.

It’s just like being in Jurassic Park, because the Valle de la Prehistoria is huge, around 11 hectares of land. It includes 227 sculptures that represent 59 dinosaur species. Felines, mammoths and cavemen are also to be found in the park.

First Miss India

It gives me great pleasure and a sense of achievement today when I read about Miss. Pramila, the first Miss India 1947 and that too from Kerala. She passed away  at the ripe old age of 90 years.She has led a long career as a stunt film star. Her daughter, Naqi Jahan, became a beauty queen in 1967. Pramila was elected through a special press vote.

The Blue Mysterious Town

The world is full of cities with strange nicknames and one of them is the Blue City of India that is also known as Jodhpur. It got that name because every little building and house in this fortress city is painted in a blue color, so from above it looks like a blue spot in the middle of the Thar desert. It is still unknown why they all painted in the color blue but some will say that it has something to do with the caste system in India.

It all started when the members of the priesty class that is called Brahmins painted their houses blue to separate themselves from the others. But after a while everybody started doing it. If you ask a local why the color blue they will tell you that this color keeps away mosquitoes, which is a strange answer that makes no sense.

Where did galaxies come from?

Science has only recently been able to explain where the stars and planets came from. Now, scientists have turned their attention to a much bigger mystery, where did galaxies come from? What is known is that galaxies are not scattered randomly throughout space, rather they are found in clusters, known as “super clusters”. Scientists have two main theories to attempt to explain galaxy formation. First, the gas left over from the big bang clustered together to form galaxies, in which stars and planets were born. Second is that gas from the big bang created stars and planets all over the universe, and they migrated through gravity into galaxies. Neither theory has been universally accepted yet.

Apple Looking Talented Developers To iWork Web Apps

Apple Team has posted a job where they are looking a talented software engineer to help the iWork team craft a web experience. The job posting is for the position calls on ‘front and/or back end of scalable web applications’ for an applicant to help working with iWork team. The job posting hit just  a day after the Apple unveiled iCloud beta service. The new iCloud service from apple provides the online storage of calendar, contacts, mail which also includes iWork. 

Gorgeous Auroras Borealis

The auroras exist in the outmost layer of the atmosphere. They are created by electrically charged particles that make the thin air shine, not unlike a fluorescent light. They can be seen in auroral belts that forms 20-25 degrees around the geomagnetic poles, both the north and the south. The Northern Lights, also called Aurora Borealis (Southern lights or Aurora Australis in the southern hemisphere), are one of the most spectacular shows on this earth. Sometimes they cover almost all of the sky and seem to be dancing around with such grace and speed that one can only watch in awe.

Scary Optical Illusion Animation

Hey people! Be careful not to stare too long at the animation below, it can cause dizziness or possibly epileptic seizures. Don’t say I didn’t warn you :) It’s little scary as well. Look how that strange girl’s face appear to constantly and fluidly move to upper right corner of your screen, while in fact, the animation only loops forever. Because of black and white negative blinking, the face appears to move only in one direction (you don’t see it moving back, when the animation loops to its start).

Scream Illusion

Anyone recognizes the painting on the bottom? It is one of the most famous paintings called “The Scream“.  I thought it was painted by Van Gogh, but I was terribly wrong. Do you know the name of the original artist? Well, I received this variation in my mailbox yesterday. It was sent by my friend including explanation: “I found this on one of my friend’s myspace and just thought it was cool the way it seems to move just from inverting color. It’s a small image but feel free to use it if you want.”

The animation gives you impression of clouds floating,faces growing and backgrounds changing . In fact it’s just a simple composition of just a few frames, and inverted colors. 

Worlds First 4 SIM Mobile Phone

This Flying F160 is the world’s first Quad SIM card, quad standby mobile phone. Quite why you’d need four SIM cards in your phone is another matter, although I suppose for permanent travellers this could save a bunch of time swapping out cards when you cross a border.

The rest of the specification is pretty so-so, with a 2 inch touchscreen, TV and FM radio, 0.3 mp camera and a choice of colors. Priced, however, at a very reasonable $75.00 unlocked.

Mayan Long Count Calendar

The only mysterious thing here is the Mayans themselves, and how did they come up with the calendar. The calendar looks like this , 12.18.16.2.6, though this isn’t todays date. The end number counts up one day, when it reaches a certain number it will reset to zero and the number next to it will count up one. It ends on the year 2012, so people predict the world will end too. The world isn’t going to end. Think of the Mayan calendar as a odometer, when the numbers reach zero, they will start counting up from one again.

Mars Face

The Cydonian region on Mars attracted a great deal of attention because one of the hills in that region looked remarkably man made. The region was first imaged in detail by the Viking 1 orbiter, which was launched in 1975. Several images were taken by the Viking, including one taken in 1976 showing that one of the Cydonian mesas had the appearance of face. Scientists dismissed the face as a trick of light and shadow, but then a second image also showed the face at a different sun-angle. This caught the attention of organizations interested in extraterrestrial intelligence, and some talk show hosts who believed the Face was a long-lost Martian civilization. Most scientists still held the belief that the face was just a consequence of viewing conditions. In 2003, when the European space agency launched Mars Express, it was able to combine data from a high resolution stereo camera and create a 3D representation of the “Face on Mars”. The most recent image (bottom) I think would silence even the most faithful believers. The image shows a remnant massif, thought to have formed from landslides and an early form of debris apron formation, but no face in sight.
