TROJAN HORSE

This word is so popular nowadays. Yeah !!! its a name of a famous virus that is often seen in your PC. But its not a new word. Its a very old one having its derivative from Trojan wars that was fought between the mighty Troys n Greeks in 11th century BC.

Sources says that Trojan war is an important landmark in the history of Greece. Troy, which is now called as Turkey was once a mighty empire, though it was a small country. Apart from this Greece, a bigger country was ruling the entire Europe n some parts of West Asia. Troy was located near a holy Aegean sea, however it could not be captured by Greeks as it had most powerful army in the world. However, Greeks owed taxes and revenues from Troys because Troy were located near Greek's territory and was much smaller country. So Greeks claimed them as their own people even though they never fought against them in order to capture Troys.

Thus, there was a bigger tension between the two countries in this issue. So, in order to sort out these problems, the king of troy, Priam, sent his sons Hector (he is a good commander and also a very good person known in history. He is not only known for his courage, but also for his noble nature. He remained good son, good husband and good father too) and Paris to Greece to negotiate peace between Troy and Sparta (its a small country of Greek's territory which was near Troy). While doing this, smaller prince Paris fell in love with the wife of Spartan king, Menelaus. Paris takes her to troy. This made the king of Spartans very angry and wanted to revenge Troys. Before he could fight, he asked help from his elder brother Agamemnon, who is the king of entire Greeks. Agamemnon wanted to conquer Troy for long times, so that he can take control over the Aegean sea.

Achilles who is a legendary warrior, works for no one. But he joins any country when he is called by the king. Agamemnon asks him to support Greeks. Since it was a big war, Achilles asked his mother for advice. She says if u don't join the battle he will have long life, wife and children, but his name will be forgotten in the history. And if he joins this battle, he may die soon, but his name will be spoken with pride in history forever. Achilles chooses the later option and accepts to join the battle.

Achilles's army Myrmidons prepare a battle in Troy and capture the TEMPLE OF APOLLO in the shore of troy. He finds Briseis there, a member of royal family of troy. He owes her to be the gift of Achilles for his win. However the she is taken as gift for entire Greeks by Agamemnon for which Achilles is against.

Meanwhile, Paris challenges for duel between him and Menelaus. He is easily defeated by Menelaus. Paris is wounded badly but not dead. Hector gets furious about this and kills Menelaus. After this both sides get on for a big battle. Since troys are good archers, they stop Greeks from entering inside. They almost wash out all the Greek battalions. The great Ajax of Greece, a known warrior of Greeks, kills himself after he stalemates in duel with Hector. Both Hector and Ajax were good fighters. And it was in this duel, they admired each others courage, skill and strength. They both exchange their swords. But Ajax kills himself

On the other hand, Agamemnon gives Briseis to his men, but Achilles rescues her and they both fall in love with each other. In the next day battle Achilles younger brother morphed like Achilles is killed by Hector who thought that it was Achilles whom he was fighting. This turned Achilles very angry and went on to the gates of Troy and shouted for duel between him and Hector. Achilles kills Hector in the duel.

Then Achilles gives the dead body of Hector to king Priam on his plea. He also sends Briseis along with him. There will be 12 day mourning and funerary rites. In this span of twelve days, Greeks plan for some tricks. They designed a big horse made of wood. They left it in front of  the doors of Troy and hid themselves in a cove nearby. After the mourning when Troy open their door, they were surprised to see the horse and claim it as a gift from Greeks for their win. They bring horse inside. That night, nearly 60 warriors including Achilles came out of the trojan horse and open the gates of the Troy, allowing their army which hid in cove to come inside. There was a big disaster from there on. They completely ruin Troy and also killed king Priam.

Achilles then searches for Briseis. She is threatened by king Agamemnon. Agamemnon is then killed by Briseis with small knife. When guards of the king arrive, Achilles saves Briseis from them. Seeing this, Paris shoots out arrow that falls on the heels of Achilles and he is badly wounded. Heels is the weakest part of Achilles and he dies ensuring that Briseis escapes from the city along with Paris. With that the nine years war ended and Troy was captured by Greeks.

THIS IS THE EPIC BEHIND TROJAN HORSE AND THE VIRUS IS NAMED AFTER THIS !!!
